Myofascial release therapy

Myofascial Release (MFR) massage is a specialised hands-on therapy that focuses on relieving tension and restrictions in the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, nerves, and organs throughout the body.

When fascia becomes tight or restricted due to injury, stress, inflammation, or poor posture, it can create pain, stiffness, and limited movement. Unlike traditional massage, which often works directly on muscles using oils and rhythmic strokes, myofascial release uses slow, sustained pressure and gentle stretching to target the fascial system.

How It Works

The therapist applies steady, controlled pressure to specific areas, holding the stretch until the tissue begins to soften and release. This allows the fascia to lengthen and restore normal movement patterns. The technique is typically slow and deliberate, focusing on long holds rather than deep kneading.

Benefits

  • Reduces chronic pain and muscle tension

  • Improves flexibility and mobility

  • Enhances posture and movement efficiency

  • Supports injury recovery

  • Promotes overall relaxation

Myofascial release is particularly effective for chronic pain conditions, postural imbalances, and persistent tightness that doesn’t respond to traditional massage techniques.
